Version one of almost everything we've built was a form, a table and a cron job. Some of those are still running.

Boring is a budget

Every new technology spends from a small budget of attention. Spend it on the part that makes the product different, and use the dullest tool you know for everything else.

Write the second version later

Real usage tells you which part deserves the rewrite. It is rarely the part you would have guessed in the planning meeting.

Make it work, make it right, make it fast. In that order, and stop when it's good enough.
